 Cognitive Wellness Wayfinding

Design Strategy

Our Cognitive Wellness Wayfinding Strategy leverages neuroscience and environmental psychology to enhance navigation and reduce stress in large public spaces, such as airports, train stations, hospitals, and campuses. The service aims to minimize cognitive load and anxiety, creating a more accessible and less stressful environment. By promoting user well-being and accessibility, it aligns with core values of inclusivity and provides long-term support for community wellness, helping clients foster environments that prioritize the comfort and satisfaction of all users.

Case Study:

In partnership with Forge Media + Design, a company based in Toronto, Canada, we implemented a Cognitive Wellness Wayfinding Strategy to enhance user experience at a large healthcare facility. Our approach focused on improving navigation and reducing visitor stress by integrating principles from neuroscience and environmental psychology. The post-occupancy evaluation project addressed key challenges such as distance anxiety, decision point confusion, and landmark identification, creating a more intuitive and accessible environment.

Deliverables:

The project deliverable was a comprehensive synthesis report providing strategic insights and design recommendations to enhance wayfinding and reduce cognitive stress. The report drew on a multi-phase research process, including charrette workshops, site observations, user interviews, and wayfinding analysis methods rooted in cognitive sciences. By examining user behavior, decision-making processes, and stress triggers, the findings informed practical, evidence-based solutions to optimize navigation and elevate the overall user experience.
